I don't recommend taking dogs above treeline in the Northerns due to the sharp, jagged rock. |

| Comments: |
Trails were mostly dry (even the stretch of Star Lake Trail that often has water running across it was basically dry). Some minor mud on some of the trails near the brooks. Some nasty, slippery rock one short stretch of Brookbank (smooth/slippery). Some fresh leaves to contend with up high as well.
Watson/Bruins/Brooks were quieter than the relatively busy Valley Way/Airline, though I've never been a fan of the poor footing on upper Watson Path.
Madison Hut is closed/boarded up for the year.
Foliage is nearly peak in some of the ravines and on the slopes of Randolph/Crescent. Decent reds, oranges, and golds.
Though temperatures were in the 40s early, they warmed up to the 70s by the afternoon down low. A little breezy on the summits, but otherwise fairly tame. Views obscured by wildfire smoke to the west. |
