More folks out than I was expecting. Gale River is flat & fast for the 1st 3 miles. Steep to junction then easy to hut, which was still opened. Had free leftover breakfast, chatted with caretaker. Windy, no views, quick to top. Garfield Ridge wasn’t as bad as I remembered, PUDS still sucked. Spotted the herd path to East for my 1st time. Best views of the day were here. Signed the register, many familiar names. Biggest climb of the day to the summit junction. Trail was the driest I’ve ever seen.Steep but quick to top. Windy & cold with views of the inside of clouds. Found shelter for lunch then a quick hike out. Disappointing day for views but happy to hit a new peak! Great trail conditions, no mud whatsoever ever. |
