Comments
Comments: A beautiful Fall day - perfect for hiking! A fair amount of trickling water on the first third of the trail, along the waterfalls - occassionally a little slippery, especially with wet leaves. A fair amount of mud and standing water - some patches required jumping or careful stepping stones to stay dry, but nothing unavoidable. The trail is absolutely beautiful - especially the first 1.5 miles, as you're hiking along a breathtaking series of waterfalls, and some decent rock-scrambling. Very steep. The next 2 miles up is comparatively a bit dull - not much in the way of views, since you're still in the trees. But, the final stretch, across a breathtakingly beautiful summit meadow, is absolutely awesome. Spectacular views in all directions. Given the steepness, I'd be very reluctant to hike down in the rain or darkness. AllTrails had this out-and-back trail at 7.9 miles, 3,185ft of elevation gain. Took my 15-year old son and I about 6 hours, with only a very short break at the summit. HIGHLY recommended - absolutely beautiful trail and summit.
