| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked on 112 at Crooked Peak Road thanks to Ken MacGray who tipped me off to new parking area updated in 31st edition of the WMG. This does require a walk of about 0.4 mi. on 112 to get to Mountain Side Road where the trailhead is. There also appeared to be plenty of parking on Sundance Road where the trail crosses. I didn’t see any sign saying parking was prohibited there. Definitely a quieter spot than the small area on 112 with cars and trucks flying by. |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Several water crossings and all easy to rock hop. First crossing of Gordon Pond Brook after Power lines was probably the one requiring the best balance and poles! |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A few sizable blowdowns. At about 1700’ is one you have to step over and under at the same time. Other big blowdowns at about 2050’ and just after Gordon Pond at about 2620’. Lots of mud but deepest patch and hardest to negotiate was north of the Pond. Others you can get through relatively easily on hard surfaces. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Didn’t see any but would be an easy hike for a dog |

Went right past West Peak without realizing it. No sign or cairn to indicate it was the summit. Found myself at the east knob which did have a little broken “outlook” sign pointing the way up to the knob where there are restricted views of Franconia Ridge (although today most of the ridge was in the clouds), Liberty and Flume. Overall an easy, long walk in the woods with a very gradual approach to Kinsman Ridge Trail. A lot of Gordon Pond Trail is along an old dirt, leaf-covered road. Gordon Falls is tough to see unless you descend carefully off the trail down towards the base of the Falls. There’s a nice view of Mt. Wolf from the Pond and a nice camping spot as well. The main trail does not go by the Pond but instead turns left. Stay right to see the Pond and campsite. From where I parked it was about 13 miles out and back to the east knob and 2800’ elevation gain. |
