| Water Crossing Notes: |
Dam crossing easy on cement dam. Crossings further up were a little tricky, searched for the best locations for rock hopping. Tried to go around on way down, would not recommend even though it worked for us. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails in OK shape. As noted by others, down low on the flats there was a lot of water. Bridges have seen better days, and a few need replacing (not to mention that they can get slippery when wet). Some rocks & roots to assist getting through this section, but not always. No bypasses, but had to go off trail to keep from soaking feet in a few spots. About a mile up there were 2 easy to step over blow downs, but chain saw may be needed to clear. Some branches removed to make stepping over easier, many thanks to those who did that work. This section of the KRT was in pretty good shape, maybe a few stepovers, but not much erosion (compared to trails seeing more foot traffic). |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Cooper had fun, as usual. Supper easy trails for pups, gradual, not too rocky. He got sufficiently muddy, but there are spots to take a dip and clean of in the water just before getting in the car. The extra bonus is lots of opportunities to grab a drink. The rock hops were no problems, but the rocks were a bit slippery even for a dog, and he slipped in once. Was wearing his bright orange vest for safety. |

| Comments: |
Rain in the morning, delayed our start, but plenty of time for this shorter hike. Seems like everyone was heading for this peak since we may have bumped into everyone else (4 others) near the summit. Nice gradual hike in the woods. Many of the leaves are on the ground, and the wetness from the AM rains made them a bit slippery in spots. I guess there are good views from the cleaning just down from the summit, but I missed them since clouds moved in just as we got up there and all I could see was whiteness. Made for a eerie visit in the clouds at the summit. Good meeting others out today. |
