Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All bridged or easy step-overs.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A sign at the kiosk says "Please Register", but the register pages are full, no place to sign in. Trails are in good condition and easy to follow. A few blowdowns: a leaner/walk-under about 1.5 miles up Gorge Brook, and another at 0.5 miles on Snapper, and a few step-overs on each. None are currently a problem. A few sections could use brushing out on South Peak Spur, Snapper and even Carriage Road.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw several, seemed happy. Should be fine for most hiking dogs, as long as they don't mind rocky trails. Little if any water on upper half.
Bugs
Bugs: None.

Comments
Comments: This was a great hike, though I continued my streak of climbing Moosilauke when it is socked in with no view. Still, the summit area is such a beautiful alpine landscape, even through the mists.
Trail was wet, with wet rocks and mud, but not really a problem. Easily navigable, and I even managed to keep my feet dry.
I had a little confusion tracking my distance at first. For the Gorge Brook Trail, the AMC White Mountain Guide counts distance from the fork in the road near hiker parking, while FarOut/Guthook starts at the kiosk, a difference of 0.3 miles. Simple enough, once light dawned on Marblehead.
There is some beautiful fall foliage in the area, especially noticeable on the drive to and from. On the trail, not as colorful, but still beautiful fall woods.
