Real Brook has been on my to do list for a while now and it didn’t disappoint. Muddy in spots just passed powerlines but fairly easy to the junction with Kinsman Ridge. Quick to Eliza Brook Shelter where I stayed. Cross Eliza Brook & hike along the Brook with many beautiful cascades & waterfalls. Up to Harrington Pond which is a beautiful spot. Your feet will get wet & muddy thru here, very slow going. The contour lines on the map don’t do this climb justice. Wow, steep, big boulders, tough going, brutal but so much fun. Eases up thru the scrub, but still a ways till top. Down then up to North, minor mud, slippery but not bad. No views today. Shout out to the 3 ladies I waited for on South, sorry I’m terrible with names. #46 for 1, shot of Honey Jack with them! Hope dinner was good at the hut! Solo night at Shelter. Easy fast hike out this morning. Heavy fog was Erie this morning but so cool. If you like quiet, beautiful trails this is a must do route to the Kinsmans! |
