Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Wow AT thru hikers must really hate NH. It is embarrassing how terrible the AT is in New Hampshire. Blowdowns, mud pits and brushing that needs to be done and especially over Mt. Hight needs some TLC. (Yes I do volunteer trail work) Water bars are all filled in.

Comments
Comments: Pack raft paddle adventure and a big hike day! Due to parking being a big nightmare we continued south and parked on the side of the road and went up the forest road/Aqueduct Path all the way to the dam. We jumped across the opening in the middle of the dam and it wasn't too hard with hiking poles. Continue on 19 Mile Brook Trail to the first lake. It was windy and the biggest gusts made white caps. We kept warm bundled up in our puffies and rain jackets, beautiful views from the water up at Carter Dome and Wildcat. After paddling around and getting pushed around by the wind we exited the south end of the lake and went to the smaller lake. This was more protected from the wind and deeper. Stopped by the hut and was nice to warm up my hands. We hiked up to Carter Dome, met a good number of people coming down. I dropped my apple and it bounced all the way down the steep stone steps. A few trees that a saw could remove across the trail. Summit was just touching the clouds and windy and it doesn't feel like summer anymore. Over to Mt. Hight we went, more blowdowns and mud pits. Views from Mt. Hight to the south and east to Maine were fabulous with the clouds right above our head and Middle Carter was not visible. Fun to go down the Carter Dome Trail, hard to believe this was a road to the firetower once.
