Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of parking at Sabbaday Falls. Was there early enough (8:30) to beat the leaf peepers.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Was able to rock hop all seven crossings of Sabbaday Brook. First couple are definitely most challenging. Happy to have poles, Gortex boots and waterproof socks!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Several old blowdowns on Sabbaday Brook Trail which could all be stepped over easily except for one about 2 miles in from TH (not long after an easier blowdown). Able to get over it but challenging due to all the branches.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Only saw one. Not sure how well they would do on the south slide. I’m not a dog owner!
Bugs
Bugs: None

Comments
Comments: Had done East Sleeper and Tripyramids before but never hit West Sleeper so back I went. Also decided to take a new route for me- Sabbaday Brook Trail. Despite no blazes and all the leaves on the ground, trail was relatively easy to follow except at the last couple water crossings. I missed the 6th crossing going up and ended up traversing the steep eroded section at about 3.5 miles in. If you get this far, go back and cross the brook! Was easier to follow coming back down. When you hit gravel the steeper ascent begins which is maybe only the last 0.5 mi. To this point the trail is relatively easy with decent footing. Climbed up to Middle Tri and this section is where I encountered the only significant patch of mud. Trail descends steeply initially off Middle then flattens a bit before ascending again to South. Kate Sleeper Trail leaves to the left partway down the south slide. Still more slide to descend once on KST and then trail becomes more level through beautiful forest. The actual summit of West Sleeper is a sharp U-Turn off KST just before a clearing which would appear to be the summit. No views from West Sleeper and I still enjoyed KST for it’s quiet, wooded beauty.
