Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The stream 10 minutes up Edmands Path still was flowing right along, with essentially no rock hop opportunities. We did not find the pair of trees upstream mentioned in the Sunday post, but we found a pair just below the usual crossing point. We found that we could toss the poles across, straddle the narrower of the two, and use stubs on the larger trunk for handholds to pull ourselves across a few feet to a point where we had feet on a boulder on the other side of the flow.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trails are basically in good shape, just very, very wet after the heavy weekend rain.

Comments
Comments: After seeing some snow patches off to the side, we encountered the first snow and ice right on the trail around that blowdown area at about 3700 ft. As we climbed, snow and ice on the trail got progressively more serious. Still, we barebooted almost to the sign warning about weather beyond, then donned microspikes. At the junction with the Crawford Path, there were some serious drifts, and we kept the spikes on all the way over Eisenhower, up Pierce, and down the Crawford Path a short way. While some of the ice and snow will melt over the next few days as things moderate, we're at the point where any hiker "up there" ought to have traction available to use.
