Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A few tiny streams. Prema had no trouble with Downes Brook, I was not so lucky with my short stride. I rock hopped on several submerged stones and got my feet wet, but it was on the way back and the car was 10 minutes away.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No blowdowns, easy to see blazes on trees. Blazes on rocks have faded and need touch up. Thanks for your work!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lots of water for drinking and fun. May need to provide near the summit. Only thing negative is about certain owners, not the dogs themselves. If you're going to leave your dog's "recycled dinner," dig a hole 200 feet off the trail and bury it. there were at least 3 colorful bags at the kiosk.
Bugs
Bugs: A couple flew by.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Some guy left a note on the kiosk; his wife lost her phone on Oct 18. He wrote his number, asking folks to get in touch if they've seen it. Didn't know if he wanted his number online, if found email me and I will let him know the details. With the rain lately I am not particularly hopeful, but you never know...

Comments
Comments: Not sure how the water crossing would be, so we started out by doing the road walk. Forest service road is not bad. The road and the lower elevations of the trail are GOLDEN! Nothing like a just past peak forest full of yellow leaves. Rest of the area going into stick season. The usual great views from the first ledge and then the summit. Never gets old. Lower elevations have quite a bit of leaves, obscuring the trail. Experienced hikers should be o.k.

Returned to car by way of the brook. Just walked across on submerged stones. One of the many reasons we keep extra stuff in the car!
