Comments: Drove up Lamm's Trail to just after the camps, where an old logging road forks left. Followed this up to a series of logging roads (mostly overgrown) nearly to the Savage - Spruce col. Bushwhacked from there in open woods to the summit. Patches of snow in open areas started about 2900' and the trees and ground were both saturated from the recent rain/snow. Very little wind until later in the day. Continued back to the saddle where I whacked north in mostly open woods to about 3100' and the south-facing cliffs on Savage, where things got quite thick. My next goal was to explore along the east-facing cliff band at 3300'. This took a while as the woods remained very thick and sidehilling on a steep, slippery slope took quite some time. But the cliffs had an excellent view toward Sugarloaf, the Percy Peaks, and beyond. From there, it was a short, thick whack to the summit. Continued along the ridge to Teapot in mostly open woods, sometimes on the west side and sometimes on the east side depending on the woods. Headed over to the west-facing ledges on Lightning Mountain and then angled back to more overgrown logging roads which I followed back to the starting point. Except for the areas on Savage where I punished myself by finding ledges to gaze from, I enjoyed mostly open woods on this whack, much like many of the other northern NH peaks.
