| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Everything within the PLC's Rose Mountain Preserve is mostly well-blazed, but signs at junctions would be good too. Helen's Trail has sporadic blazing. The lightly-used bypass around the Pinnacle summit was brushed in at the bottom but not at the top so I'm not sure if this is closed or what. PLC has erected two new map kiosks but the maps in the field are newer than those on their website. Cut-Thru Trail is shown as being blazed in green on their maps but actually has no markings at all. |

Dry trail conditions all the way to Rose with just the usual mucky spots that are always wet. There's still a little foliage color around but most leaves have dropped.
At the summit, a new 0.15-mi. spur path, marked with blue blazes and cairns, leads to a fantastic ledge area and excellent views to the west. Never knew this spot existed and it's the widest view up here.
Aside from nearby audible target practice it was a quiet day along this ridge. Only saw one other person on Rose. Hoping for cooler autumn weather to return! |
