The parking lot at Whiteface Intervale seems very adequate with room for at least 20-25 vehicles. No other vehicles upon arriving at 7:30. |

The Whiteface River crossing was easily rock hopped without getting wet. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Blazes were sparse and faint particularly on the upper half of the McCrillis Trail. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
A great hike for a dog with little crowds and decent water available on the lower half or so of the climb. Two minor rock ledges near the of the McCrillis Trail. Dogs should have zero problems and people should be careful. The top half of the McCrillis Trail was very dry however. There was some water available just downhill of the junction with the Blueberry Ledge Trail right adjacent to the BLT under a rock (maybe a minute walk downhill from the vista). |

A beautiful late fall day for a hike in the woods. Saw nobody between the parking lot and the BLT, both both up and down. Once at the BLT there were crowds all around on such a great late October Saturday. A heavy cover of very dry leaves made for an interesting decent on steep sections. Very glad to have brought poles and they were very useful when scuffling along down the trail plowing a pile of noisy leaves in front of my feet. Had no chance to hear the dog with her bell running around. With light use and lack of a well blazed trail it took concentration to not miss a turn and veer off the trail. Faded yellow blazes are out there but attention is needed to stay on the trail in many spots if not familiar with the route. |
