It was pretty chilly today but there was brilliant sunshine and great views of the Presi's coated in snow. The ground is beginning to freeze and was pretty solid up Polecat. There was some black/clear ice heading up to D which could be avoided by stepping carefully. Most of the ridgeline was bare and frozen. Some puddles just have breakable crust of ice. Most of the mud was frozen but there were a couple areas it was not. The bog bridges had a coating of snow and were slippery in places. The steeper sections seem to have some ice but we did not need our spikes that we carried with us. The trees were crusted in ice and a dusting of snow was on some of the ground above 4K. No traction needed yet but would carry them as conditions change. |
