Comments
Comments: While Cabot is not among my favorite peaks, I love the northern route. The Unknown Pond and Kilkenny Ridge trails are beautiful. I rarely see anyone on these trails and today was no exception. I met one loop hiker just before the summit. There was trace of snow starting just below the junction of the pond. I barefooted until just past the cutoff for the Horn the switched to microspikes because there was ice under the snow dusting. I kept them on until about a mile below the junction of Unknown Pond because I felt more comfortable having them for the descent. The other hiker was carrying them but not using them (he was also hiking in shorts in temps below freezing ???????). A gorgeous day!
