Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of parking. Trailhead is not down the forest road, it's on the main Rd about 50 ft from the lot.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Bog Brook trail has probably 15 water crossings. If they're not your thing, I'd avoid this trail.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Bog Brook trail and Rainbow Trail are poorly maintained, these aren't priority for AMC, that's clear. On BB I got submerged nearly to my knee from a deceptive mudpit. Bog bridges are mostly rotten. If you don't like a bit of a wild trail avoid Bog Brook. Rainbow is fine, just hard to follow at times, recent leaves and little foot traffic can make the trail hard to see at times. If you're not decent with navigating avoid Rainbow.

Comments
Comments: Overall Bog Brook is a ton of water crossings and muddy and poorly maintained. Fair enough it's not popular. Rainbow is like you're in an apocalypse. Wild landscape. Birch glades with white birch all brown over, adult trees, laying on top of each other. Looked like a tornado hit it. Not slick on Moriah Carter, especially down to the hut (I went CCW). In retrospect I'd do CC. The trip over to Mt Hight is a MUST. Incredible undercast, Incredible views. Cater notch was a welcome reprieve with a snack and hot cocoa.
