Comments
Comments: A great fall day for a November Osceola, but far more blue ice than we were expecting. The somewhat ledgy sections of trail about a half mile from the summit were completely iced over with cascading frozen runoff, with no dry rocks to step on and limited options to go around. We saw several people who regretted not bringing spikes. With spikes and a pole, it wasn’t bad, especially later in the day as the ice warmed up. My dog did ok, but did have a few minor slips. We weren’t planning to go to East but heard conflicting reports that it was less icy but the Chimney might be iced up. Altogether a great day on the trail!
