Beautiful day, lots of leaves on the ground. Poles might have been a good idea for the descent--might go more quickly but it wasn't too bad without. The biggest question was where to go at the snowmobile trail sign (it's to the right). The White Mountain Guide map doesn't have the snowmobile trails, which makes sense. Probably this was all obvious but we took a few minutes deciding. Then, once at the UNH trail crossroads, we went up clockwise. The wind was still on the East Ledges, and it felt warm for a few minutes. The hike was a treat after some of the wet, muddy slogs of this summer, and all of the river crossings. (There was a slightly flooded area of brackish water on the UNH trail, but easily rock-hopped.) |
