Carter-Moriah Trail south of Carter Dome I recall a decent leaner. Wildcat Ridge Trail had a few easy step overs and another that you could either crawl over or under depending on your height and which side you took. |

| Comments: |
A dusting of snow down low with 1-2" along the ridges. There were no real issues with ice on Carter-Moriah and most of the way up Wildcat A. Close to the top of A there is a few small blue ice flows under the fresh snow but can be easily avoided. We managed to bare boot most of the day and only tossed on spikes on Wildcat Ridge Trail just help us move more quickly.
One of the coolest things about hiking in fresh snow is checking out the tracks of critters that were out ahead of you. Today on North Carter there were fresh bear tracks that followed along and crossed the trail twice, before heading off into the woods to the south. Then, on C-M south of South Carter we came across another set of (smaller) bear tracks that crossed the trail and headed east. We discussed a few theories of what kind of bear drama was going on. |
