| Comments: |
First couple of miles still have a lot of leaves, mud, and standing water. There were very small traces of snow, mostly off trail. Trails were mostly covered in snow starting at around 2300 feet I believe, but no need for spikes. Started to see some ice around 3000 feet, so I put my spikes on. Really would have still been fine without them (and on my descent, others were not wearing them), but I just prefer them once I start seeing ice. In the final .25 to the summit, the rocks did have slick ice under fresh powder, so I was happy I had the spikes on. At the junction of Garfield Ridge Trail, there were no tracks heading towards LaFayette. There were tracks heading towards Galehead. No views today, but it sure was gorgeous! |
