Comments
Comments: Went clockwise and started early. Was socked in until a few feet off Lafayette summit, where an amazing undercast opened up below the entire ridge. It was the coolest mountain weather I have ever experienced and I felt very lucky to be up there when I was. I barebooted to Lafayette without issue, although some people might want beater spikes on parts of the ascent and definitely if descending OBP. Put rock spikes on for ridge, which were helpful but not necessary-very little ice on ridge it was great surface conditions. They stayed on until the last major water crossing down low. The only serious ice was around the waterfalls as expected, but I cruised down at a good speed in crappy old spikes without issue and never considered putting on the sharp hillsounds. Lots of friendly folks ascending Falling Waters. Only saw about 5 people on ridge during the serious undercast-felt like I had the place to myself:) Wind was ripping up to Lafayette but was very mellow on ridge. A+++ morning in the mountains!
