Comments
Comments: Snow was packed on Polecat, a few icy patches, easy to step around. Once we started up the Wildcat Ridge Trail we put on our spikes (I wore Hillsounds) and left them on until we got down to the leaves on the Imp Trail. On all of the trails (except for the descent) conditions were pretty much the same. Some packed snow, some ice under the snow, and some pretty substantial ice flows. And today was the first time in months that the mud was frozen on the ridge!!! The conditions on the descent are typical for this time of year...and not my fave lol...N. Carter and the Imp had a mixture of ice, some snow, standing water, running water and still some very mossy rocks. Although there were many sections that were bony, we left our spikes on since there were still many icy sections. Once we got the the leaves, we took off our apikes. But wait, there's more! True to the conditions just now, there was still plenty of soft, slippery mud hiding under the leaves :) It was a super quiet day...we crossed paths with two others on South Carter, and that was it! It was also a cold one, but we had absolutely stellar views of the Presi’s. Was a great day!
