I wore my shoulder season boots that have the carbide spikes built into the soles and Bria donned her spikes just before the first waterfall. It was smooth sailing across the sunny ridge! Yes upon reaching the ridge we exited the clouds and walked in the sunshine like were were in an airplane high above the clouds. Whoohoo undercast with Mt. Washington's tiptop shining bright and as the morning passed on more tip tops were pointing out of the clouds. Fantastic day with just a breath of wind. About 4 inches or snow, packed well by the previous day's hikers. Feels like winter. That Rocket21 guy caught up to us right before Lafayette, yup he traveled twice as fast as us! On Lafayette we descended Greenleaf trail until we rain into Danielle. We turned back up the mountain while Rocket21 zipped off backdown. The three of us turned into four when Anne found us and then at the trailhead at the last trail on Danielle's redline list we picked up another pal. And all the way down Skookumchuck more friends joined us on the trail. What a Redline Finish for Danielle, Congrats and if was so much fun hiking along with Danielle as she gathered her trails. As we raised our hiking poles for her to dash through we cheered--20+ people cheered. Thanks to the Iron Furnace Brewery putting up with us all! |
