Comments
Comments: I did not use traction until I was uphill of the Crawford Path - Mizpah Cut-Off junction. One can use the rocks, roots, dirt, or flat spots on the ice to carefully ascend to the junction. Thereafter I used microspikes that proved to provide good traction on the bare ice or ice thinly covered in snow. The Webster Cliff Trail was not an ice flow as I have seen in some other years. I removed the traction before crossing the bridge over Gibbs Brook so as not to damage the wood. I recommend carrying light traction even if you should decide not to use it. The conditions may change after the Friday night - Saturday precipitation.
Great views up the Presidential Range from the summit of Mt Pierce and other spots in the vicinity of the peak.
Had a nice chat with John Gotowsky on Mt Pierce. Also, had a nice talk with Sarah from Henniker. All of the hikers were having a great time today.
