Dirt road up to the trailhead free of snow/ice, but currently soft gravel, and the ruts are slowly getting deeper. Was OK in my suv but would avoid in a low clearance vehicle and instead park down on Rt 2 next to Irving station instead (fyi that's the "winter" lot.) |

One blowdown just before the SK summit that was mentioned in a prior NETC report. Thanks for that intel, I brought my saw and cleared it. |

I packed out a random hat that I found along the upper section between trailhead and SK summit. If you lost this hat, send me some info about it and I'll get it back to you. |

No big surprises on this hike, shoulder season conditions so it's a little muddy/sloppy in spots. Boot traffic has packed down the 1-2" of snow at elevation, making it fairly icy in spots. I used rock spikes on the descent from SK summit to the glade area mud and then removed them. Section between SK and Waumbek summit is mostly snow covered, but super boney of course. |
