Comments
Comments: Terrific day - but icy icy icy. I should have done the full Avalon Trail to Field, then done the ridge because I forgot how horribly icy the top of the Avalon Trail is for descent (should have descended A-Z Trail). Even when there weren't ice floes to sink my microspikes into, the rocks were all glazes with ice. It took me at least an hour to descend that .5 mile segment from the Mt Avalon Spur to the A-Z Trail. OR, I should have just gone back to the A-Z Trail. Who knows. Anyway, very pleasant day. No views. Might have been views from Avalon but I had run out of time to visit it and as it was, barely made it out without needing headlamp.
