Zealand Rd was open in the morning but gated a couple miles before Hale Brook when we returned for the car. Thankfully we could get the car out but don’t plan to park further up, I assume they’ll be gating the whole thing soon. |

Incredible wintery day on the Bonds! A few inches of fresh snow was beautiful and trail conditions were mostly good—a few sections here and there with blue ice but never especially bad. Above treeline was mostly exposed rock and drifting snow. The top of West Bond and the steeps off of Bondcliff were both fine, with some fresh snow but no ice. Lend-a-Hand was the wettest part of the day with partially frozen bogs that were easy to fall through the ice into. Spikes were sufficient the whole day, and we actually bare booted up to Hale and out the last ~5 miles. |
