| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The only noticeable issues were all on the section of C-M that descends from Carter Dome to Carter Notch. One duck under that will be an issue when we get more snow. One step over that is plenty low, but needs the small side branches cleaned up. A couple of leaners and hangers, too. |

| Comments: |
There was a general 1-3” of new powder today. We were able to bareboot until descending Carter Dome where we decided to preemptively put on rock spikes. Unfortunately, it appeared that all of the ice was on the ascent up CD, and the south facing descent into the notch was essentially ice free. We still wore spikes for the top half and felt it made us more confident and allowed us to move faster, but it will beat up your spikes so bring old rock spikes if you’re doing this tomorrow (Tuesday) before the new snow. We put spikes on again on the way to Wildcat D when we encountered a particularly dangerous ice floe and then kept them on until we were down off of the ski slopes. Did we absolutely need them? No…and the solo hiker ahead of us appeared to forego using them all day. Were we happy to have them? Yes! Spikes |
