| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Two cars by Franconia depot trail head parking at 7 am, by 11 am lot was full and starting line down 302. The lot is badly rutted from frozen slush, would not be hard to get stuck. |

| Comments: |
Ground is fully covered by snow. Down low the snow was soft even slushy in parts. Up high it was dense powder. Up high it is just deep enough to make traction difficult even with micro spikes. Trail is filling in and maybe 85% there, but still enough rocks here and there to beat up your snow shoes. Did see one set of snow shoe tracks, and there are long stretches of trail that would be fine with them. But they aren’t needed. I bare booted, but could have/should have used spikes without destroying them on rocks. |
