Comments
Comments: It was a nice day. Windy, but we got blue skies and views of Washington. From the suspension bridge over Saco onward was snow-covered except for a short stretch that was very wet and rocky, but not at all difficult. The microspikes went on shortly after and stayed on the whole time. The ledges had plenty of snow for our microspikes to grip, but not so that you'd want snowshoes at this time. One hiker turned around because she didn't have gaters to deal with the shin-deep snow levels on the ridge. I never want to turn around because my kids are cold, so we were in full snow gear, which kept us warm and dry the whole time. We noticed that Davis Path was only tracked out to Crawford, i.e., if you weren't heading to Crawford and would have followed Davis path north, you would have been the first to do so in a while.
My kids (9 & 10) loved this hike. There were many comments about coming back in the summer. But then again, there's something extra magical when you've got snow stuck to the spruce and icicles dangling from all of the surrounding branches...
