Comments
Comments: Snow conditions were relatively good up until Lafayette. The snow was beginning to consolidate around the rocks - there’s nothing worse than power over icy rocks and fortunately there wasn’t much of that. After the north side of Lafayette things got dicier - it was quite slick. Garfield ridge trail was rough and unpleasant on the feet - but what else is new. Overall expect several inches of crusty snow that wants to hang on to your feet and the baskets of your pole and expect an extra burn in your calves and quads. The mud is out in force too, great cauldrons of it hiding underfoot, after the ground warms up a bit.
