Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: As per usual, better crossing on Cascade Brook, the lone water crossing, is best about 25' upstream. No issues crossing, multiple levels of thrill from mild to wild are available for you to choose your own adventure.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No issues of real note, a couple head bangers for the tall folks. Not a problem I have to worry about.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Some good ice down low persists, but I am sure a trail dog would find good footing
Bugs
Bugs: No bugs. No tourons. Splendid.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: One lone glove on LST - left it there as there where more people above us than below us.

Comments
Comments: A FINE day in the forest was had. NO SPIKE NATION! WOO!! The coldest hike to date, 16 at the TH, 12 on the summit. Charity hike for me, well, technically its grid 3... We had great conditions through the whole way. Good ice below FST/LST junction, but decent snow up to ridge line. The State Parks have very conveniently placed a sign at the herd path telling you the trail is 500 yards away, or you can just take the well worn and traveled short cut. Being like my 20th time on this pair, I really did not feel the need to see what the bike path looks like again. After FST/LST junction the snow gets gradually deeper but we are only talking a whopping 2 inches to maybe 6" at to the campsite. Depths seem to increase to about 8-12" on the ridge itself, most of the rocks/roots are covered and another good dumping will have this in prime shape. I did post hole like a champ to my knee so the snow is starting to stack up. Cold temps plus a light breeze had is not lingering very long. About a dozen out today. I did not wear spikes at all today, though you could definitely benefit from rock spikes for sure. I was just stubborn and my goat hooves where finding all the right rocks to leap to.
