Started by walking further up Old Mountain rd to the HOL between the Middle and NW Ayers Pond Peaks. Jumped into the forest heading west towards the NW peak, passing on north side of a small pond (or wet area). Easy to located jar inside the teapot at the summit surrounded by multiple interesting artifacts. Took bearing towards middle peak through open woods passing to the south side of small pond. Entered woods heading towards middle peak summit after short walk back on extension of OMR. We searched all the high points for the jar, or even a string on a tree, but could not locate either. Headed towards the Ayers Pond Peak passing briefly thorough a section of pricker bushes in the COL. Climb to the summit had short steep section. Returned following our steps to an old logging road that lead us directly to the log landing and out cars. 2-4" of crusty snow in the forest throughout. |
