| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We had VIP parking right across from the trailhead. As usual, the Notch was an absolute wasteland of parked cars everywhere with no rhyme or reason to how they came to be in their positions. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Black, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Breakable Crust |
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All crossings are already freezing up and had no issues. Was shocked to see how nice Silver Cascade (the 'main' bigger crossing) was. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There is one nice one that Zippy would enjoy, its probably halfway before the junction of W/J loops. It's either a big boy, or an axe, it has other branches once you pop under it to catch you, and is either head level or just above your head (atleast for a normal human). I will actually send him a message after this as this is right up his alley! Other than that - none |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Several puppers out today. Trail conditions at present are quite amicable. |

| Bugs: |
| Lost and Found: |
One creeper (for your boot, not your neighbor) was noted, as well as an impromptu lost and found at the trailhead sign; a hunter orange toque, a reddish nalgene, and a yellow leather-ish looking mitten. |

A FINE afternoon in the forest. After doing Cabot in the morning we headed over to Jackson to finish up November grid for Lil Squirt! Congrats! What an odd duo, but, I guess its befitting if you hang around with me, things get odd, quick. We donned spikes pretty quickly, we'll say Elephant Head spur, and kept them on until the car. Trail conditions exceeded our expectations as its pretty much a tracked out super highway. There is almost enough snow for this one to return to what can only be described as drag strip sidewalk status, another good dumping of snow will cover whats left of the majority of exposed rock. Snow depths increase towards the summit but its still sparse cover (as in most obstacles are just barely covered). Last slab pitch I felt was still pretty good, but any deviation from the tracked out line had a lot of ice under the snow and you could definitely go for mildly uncontrolled ride. Ran into several familiar faces, Mismatched, HKRBTCH, K.H., among others which made the ascent better! Nothing like sitting in the car with the combustion engine running and heat on, only to get back out and climb another. I am going to enjoy a few days of blissful ignorance before I ask what I am doing in December for her grid, ha! |
