3 of us were only ones out on Isolation Tuesday. There was anywhere from 2-8 inches of fresh powder on top of frozen granular for most of trails.
Started out bare booting for 2 miles then went to snowshoes for remainder of hike. We had to break trail from about 2 miles up until reaching the peak.
Quite a few times all 3 of us broke through the snow, with snowshoes, and sunk in deep mud. Can honestly say this was a very frustrating day.
We tried the first cutoff but couldn't navigate the route properly. We had to rely on a GPS to get us from Rocky branch to Isolation trail.
PLEASE DON'T COUNT ON OUR CUTOFF ROUTE!
Like the gentleman posted before us, if you really don't need Isolation right now, I would wait for more snowfall or colder temps. |
