GREat day in the woods today. It was a balmy 15 F on the summit. Great fall day in NH. trail head to Mt surprise has a light snow cover. minimal exposed roots and rocks. After that summit, the powder got deeper, Some small pockets of standing water. If you haven't already switched to water proof boots now is the time. Was able to go all the way using only spikes. However, with the fresh snow it would have been much easier with snow shoes. All of the ledges were icy but managable with the new snow cover. 2-4 inches of fresh snow above 3000 ft. |
