Based on a trail report of last week, we donned rock spikes in the LW parking lot. They stayed on for the duration of the hike. Lincoln Woods has a dusting of snow, which covers potential icy spots. There were sufficient crunching sounds happening as we walked the LW path to make us happy to have put on the spikes at the start. The dusting of snow on Osseo soon became an inch, then 2, then suddenly 6" or more. At about 3500', the 4 of us wished we had brought our snowshoes. One hiker ahead of us did have snowshoes, which made the 6-10" of unconsolidated snow a bit more manageable for us. The ladders are covered. The snow-covered trees were lovely today, especially with the sun peeking through. The summit stayed clear while we were there, although the clouds were getting closer so we didn't linger. Flume is always a delight.
Time to pack the snowshoes! |
