Big day. A fair amount of snow has fallen since Pete's report on the 25th. Bare boot halfway to Crawford, then Hillsounds to the Spur Trail. Snowshoes on for Crawford Spur and kept them on the rest of the day. The snow filled in any semblance of previous hikers, so trailbreaking was the order of the day. Miles and miles worth. Was solo, and didn't see anyone the entire day. Never having been on these mountains before, I did my best to make a decent route where it wasn't obvious. Out and back, so there is at least 2 passes of snowshoes all the way to Stairs. On my return it looks like someone else went up Crawford, and continued on Davis Path for a little bit then turned around. Saw fresh bear prints in the snow, probably the same one Pete mentioned. No bear sighting for me though. |
