Comments
Comments: Snow was about a foot thick. We should have brought snowshoes. There's a crust down low so microspikes are also useful, but up high it's powdery and deep. We only got as far as Gordon pond before turnaround time, 7 hours for 7 miles total.

More animal tracks than I've ever seen. Bear went back and forth across trail at least as far as Gordon pond. Also wildcat, rabbit, squirrel. We went past a bear den but it was empty while it was out looking for berries. Some big red bear scat after eating too many berries! See link for pictures
