Lots of parking at Cannon ski area. Hiker lot was not plowed but drivable; more cars were parked at the *entrance* to the hiker lot, almost blocking the cars to get out. Just make sure to leave room for access! Ski lot plowed |

| Comments: |
Went for a sunrise hike up Cannon, trail is shaping up nicely. Spikes all the way today. Packing snowshoes would be a good idea. Packed down trail and even footing for most of the way up. Very little rocks left exposed through the snow. After the view spur, on the exposed ridge, there were the expected drifts but the trail is following course with no mistaken herd paths. This area also has some spots where the holes in between the rocks have not filled in yet and can make for some unsettling footing, use caution. At the Rim Trail/Kinsman Ridge junction loop there was lots of new loose powder, I could have used snowshoes here but no damage was done and the few people coming up after me are sure to have tamped it down. I also wanted to say a big hello to Ralph (who I'm hoping meant this site when he said he'd post the hike, I foolishly didn't ask!) Your kindness, inspiration, and words of true wisdom will stay with me - I am so grateful to have crossed paths with you! A true delight, thank you. |
