| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The road is gated for the winter. While most folks park at the Beaver Brook Picnic Area and hike the ski trails over to Gale River Road, I prefer just hiking the road (it has easier footing). So I park on Trudeau Rd near it’s intersection with Rte 3. I wasn’t the only one with this idea… there were a half dozen cars there. |

| Comments: |
I hiked out and back for Galehead only, because I am only semi-committed to gridding. Everyone that I saw was gridding and hiked also the Twins. Trail conditions were not fun (mashed potato snow that is very churned up but overall the trails listed above were too bony for snowshoes, so it was slow going), but yay that lots of snow is coming Sunday night! If you are hiking this Sunday during the day I would recommend bringing snowshoes (other hikers said they were necessary for the Twins) and light traction (which helped coming down the icy sections near the Galehead summit). |
