Comments
Comments: The precipitation that fell overnight was in the form of wet snow from 3,000ft up becoming more powdery as you climb. About 3 to 5 inches on top of what was already down. Significant drifting all along the ridge with some deeper spots. We put on snowshoes at Shining Rock and kept them on until we got to Greenleaf Hut. They are certainly needed, it was slow going trail breaking. A few bareboot tracks of those who came up to Lafayette but the few I know of that went across the ridge today were all in snowshoes.

Visibility was poor, but winds were tame and temperatures were around the freezing point along the ridge.

Lots of melting today and slush at lower elevations. If hiking tomorrow expect lots of hard ice particularly along the falls on FWT and below the hut on OBP. A good amount of snow predicted for tomorrow afternoon will make this report obsolete by Monday.
