| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Jackson has no parking on any roads from Nov-May in effect. Therefore this was a tough one. I saw the turn around for the plow trucks and 1 no parking sign there but nothing off to the right side where you can back a car in. I called the PD and asked about parking there and they said it will needed to be moved before the storm hits. I told him it would be there only 1-2 hours and he was ok with that and would call if an issue came up. Phew! |

Well I set off after the call on where to park on thorn mountain road. I walked up 162 (or 169 whoops can’t recall now) driveway. Saw prints in the snow of others being here. Saw the sign for the trail to the right and headed off. Total trip was 2.4 miles with 1,155’ elevation gain. It was snowing the whole time. But wow is this trail straight up! I made it to the ledges and up to the old ski shacks. Crazy I know but it was clouded in and windy on top lol. I took my photos, put spikes on and headed down. Would have slipped and fallen everywhere if I didn’t put spikes on for the descent. I feel as if it took me longer than it should have but it was a total trip of an hour and a half. Another nh500 down. |
