Saw several and they all seemed to be having a good time! |

There was a mosquito at the summit, which we found surprising, but it wasn't biting. |

We hiked down half of a pair of nanospikes, or similar. It's at the info kiosk where the Mt Wilard Tr starts. |

Last weekend it was the 3 of us. This time, we had the additional company of our 4-pushing-5 year-old. As we drove up to the trailhead through Crawford Notch, we could see mist coming up from the snow on Willey. It was a very gray day. There were quite a few cars in the lot by Crawford Depot, but we still had a spot. We crossed the tracks, but shortly thereafter put on our microspikes. Most hikers had the same thought today. There was one couple without traction who were slip-sliding their way down later in the day.
Once we got to the summit, our view was predictable: nothing. Still, there was something very cool about that no-view view. It was like you were standing on the edge of the world with nothing beyond. Despite not seeing what they were used to seeing, all 3 kids had fun on the summit. One more great day out in the woods! |
