Comments
Comments: The lower portion of the trail had 3-4 inches of snow and we barebooted the first 2.25 miles. Probably should have put the snowshoes on around the 2 mile mark. After about 2.4 miles, the snow got significantly deeper and we were breaking new trail which slowed us down quite a bit. There was 2 feet of snow in many places with more on the side of the trail. The day was mostly cloudy with little to no wind. However, it was a different story on the ridge. I would say the wind was blowing at about 20 miles an hour up there. My hiking buddy broke a snowshoe about 0.25 mile from the ridge so I went ahead planning to summit solo. But it was getting very close to our turnaround time and the wind & clouds on the ridge made me think twice about being up there alone. So, I decided to play it safe and will be back one day!
