Below 1800', White Dot had dusting of snow covering it (except on bigger rock slabs). I put my microspikes on at around 1800' and left them on the rest of the day. Above 1800', a little more snow cover on the trail (1"-3"). Just enough snow to cover things (including puddles with thin ice over them, rocks with thin ice on them. Just enough covering to make you unsure of what was underneath the snow that you were stepping on....This time of the season (where there is a enough snow to sometimes put spikes on, but not always necessary) tends to trash your microspikes. Looking forward to getting a little more snow coverage on the trail.
Slabs to the summit where either covered with a dusting of bare. Saw two other parties occasionally butt sliding down some slabs because there was insufficient snow for their spikes to get a good grab.
Summit had some snow and some bare slabs.
White Cross trail condition was similar to White Dot....except less traveled. I saw one set of footprints on it. |
