Started from the Pleasant Valley Wayside and headed south on Maggie’s Run. It runs along the river and has two short spur trails on the left that end at Rt. 302. I didn’t see any signage for the first short spur off the main trail. The southern end of Maggie’s ends at Rt. 302 just south, and within sight of, the Dry River Campground. Walked across the road and through the unplowed campground roads to the Dry River Connector. At the junction with Dry River and Saco River, took the left on Saco River for 0.3 miles to another Maggie’s Run trail. Took a left to reach 302 then back to the junction (0.5 mile each way), and a left on the Saco River trail. Reached the Webster Cliff trail junction in 1.2 miles and took the left to reach 302. Finished with a 1 mile road walk south back to the Wayside. All trails were fresh with around 12” of new and untracked snow. First time on snowshoes this year and they were required. I liked Maggie’s Run alongside the river - very nice. The Saco River trail was just ok in comparison. |
