About 4ā in lower tr sections, turning into 6ā and after intersection with Rollins into 8ā. Snow fluffy which did not bode too well for snowshoes in the steeper sections. As a first one on unbroken tr was a bare- booter on unbroken tr though it did not create a problem, he later turned into Walden cutoff.
A co-hiker, Paul as I came to know, smoothed out and broke more tr in snowshoes. I met up with him after water crossing. We leap frogged somewhat on tr. clearing and breaking. It got a bit nasty after Walden cutoff with all that untouched snow accumulation but we made it. I lost connection to Co-hiker Paul on the way down, stayed on snowshoes all the way out to parking lot, just because Iām too lazy to repack them.
Initially weather all socked in, then turning to blue sky and then to a mix thereof.
Lovely first snow impression on tr for me, a day well spent. |
