From Crawford Notch to the summit of Pierce is a packed highway. Used spikes. One hiker we passed on the way up started breaking trail towards Eisenhower but ended up turning around. Snowshoes went on at this point to finish what she had started. Some massive drifts we had to cut through but the trail is now broken out. Saw another couple on the out that was also wearing snowshoes headed to Eisenhower so there should be a good base down now. Will need more packing to get it in shape for spikes though. Caught an awesome under cast on Eisenhower…Pierce was socked in. We were rewarded for our perseverance. |
